Happy 3rd Happy Feet

My little Happy Feet turned three recently.  When I asked her what kind of party she wanted to have she thought for a little bit, then replied, "doggie princess".  So, that's what we did...I had to get a little creative, but doggie princess she got.  We found some little plastic dogs at Target, some sticker crowns at Michael's (you should have seen the smile on my face when we discovered them) and then I made each dog a little tutu.  Happy Feet thought it was absolutely great!   That's exactly what I wanted.

Help Me Choose...

The end has come for my pphotography class. I'm going to miss it a lot. I know that I haven't updated the information I've learned as I promised...I still hope to do that.  This week we are having a gallery show. We get to invite our friends and family, look at each others pictures and eat cupcakes.  It's going to be lots of fun.  Here's where you come in...I need your help. Flowers from Vo Tech...

Yesterday I loaded up the kids and we went shopping for flowers.  There's a local vocational technology school that has a Green House Management class. This flower sale was all of their doing.  They plant the flowers and tend to them they do all of the sales...this is a big fund raiser for the class.  In my life before kids, I worked as a school counselor, and I would help students sign up for classes like these.  I have a soft spot in my heart for Vo Tech kids, and this is one event I look forward to all year long.  The students are always so helpful and so proud of their work.  I love that!

I let Red Shoes and Happy Feet pick out some flowers that they wanted.  Here's a glimpse of our morning...

It didn't feel like flower planting weather...it was a chilly morning.

The kids made a friend at the sale.  This girl was so sweet.  She let them water some flowers and

taught them a few things about gardening.  I hope she told them to keep their tractors, shovels, and various other forms of "diggers" out of the garden...if we're able to grow anything this year it's going to be a miracle! 

It was a great morning with the kids. Happy Feet and I did some planting in the afternoon.  I haven't met a kid yet that doesn't like gardening.  It's such a good thing to do together.  Pin It

From Secretariat to Hippotherapy...

I haven't blogged for over a month.  I'm not sure what happened...I kind of needed a break, things got busy and then I didn't even know what to start back up with.  So I'll start with this...

Remember the inspirtation my kids found from the movie the Secretariat?   It led to a new gig for Red Shoes.  One Sunday at church I was talking with a lady who is involved in a Hippotherapy  program around our area.  She said it would be perfect for Red Shoes.  We applied for it and they accepted him.  It's great because they take what he is working on in speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy and integrate it into what he's he does for hippotherapy....he doesn't even know he's "working", and that's good, because Red Shoes has to do a lot of "work".

 Each week he gets to go for an hour and get his horse (Scotty)  ready by grooming him, helping getting him saddled and then riding him.  He's super excited about it. I really thought he might be scared of the horse once his was standing right up next to him.  Not a chance.  As soon as he met him he wanted to ride!  My boy has changed a lot over the last few years.  He's gotten so brave.

This is my grandma Ellen.  Happy Feet and I got to to visit with her for a little bit one morning.  She's a wonderful woman...everything you would hope your grandma would be.  A few things about my grandma...she raised 6 kids, makes the BEST gravy, and she LOVES watching sports. She's one of a kind. I love her.

Spring Break

I had a wild and crazy spring break last week.  I hauled three kids to Nebraska to visit my family and a dear friend from high school. We had a great time! The first night I stayed with my sister and helped take care of our combined 5 kids (5 and under). We actually got to take a nice long walk together (with only Swoosh) and really visit.  That was nice. 

The next day I drove to Lincoln to visit my friend Natalie.  I hadn't seen her for like two years. Happy Feet and her daughter were just babies during our last visit.  She made us lunch and took us to a little park for a picnic.  The weather was so nice, and it was fun to watch our little ones play together. Not to mention getting to catch up with her a little bit...while actually looking at her.   We waited too long to do that. 

When I left Natalie's I went to my parents home...the home that I grew up in. Mom had been visiting my other sister and brought my nephew back. Here he is...

The kids spent hours playing in the sand, on the playground and running with wild abandon exploring farm life. It was good.

The kids are really starting to play together and get along.  At one point we went 20 minutes without one squabble.  That's huge.  It's fun to watch the kids build these friendships with their cousins.  I'll post more pictures when I have time. There's lots more to share.
