Meet Woody...

We have a new project.  I told my husband this summer about how I'd always liked the old Jeep Grand Wagoneer. He started scouring Craigslist and before I knew it we were trekking to Kansas to take a look.  We had one in Topeka we made an appointment to look it. It was really bad.  We had noticed another one around Topeka and lucked out enough to be able to view it the same day. We bought it. Meet Woody...He was made in 1989. Woody needs lots of work, but we think working on him will be a fun family adventure.

Happy 4th Swoosh!

Seems like just yesterday Swoosh was this chubby, sweet baby...How is he already 4?  He is quite the boy...He has so much energy, loves all things sports and requires about as much sleep as his Dad...not much.  He enjoyed swimming a lot this summer and he can't wait until he can play tackle football and soccer.  He's always asking when he will be able to do that.  He likes to use big words and has a southern accent. One day I had put some potatoes in the crockpot before we went to school.  When we walked in the door he said, "Mom, what's that amazin' smell?"

He wanted a "motorcycle" birthday party, and has been quite excited for his party.  We had lots of family here, and we set up a water slide to keep the kids busy.  It was a great day! The evening before his party he had a special surprise.  The director of his daycare knew that he was having a motorcycle birthday party and offered to come give him a motorcycle ride!  She is such a wonderful lady...hardworking, firm, sweet and selfless.  This act of kindness will be something we will treasure for a long time.  At first Swoosh was a little nervous, but he went for it and had a great time. Happy Birthday Swoosh!

Hand Foot Mouth, Oh My...

*WARNING* This post is not for the faint of heart.  Swoosh came down with Hand Foot Mouth a few weeks ago and it was awful.  In raising three kids I hadn't ever encountered this one before.  I really don't blame you if you leave right now.  Here's the HFM timeline:

July 2nd- Started running a temperature.  My niece & nephew came over...can you say EXPOSED.

July 3rd
This night was AWFUL!  Swoosh cried practically all night long and said his feet were burning.  There was nothing we could do other than give him Motrin.  It was a sad night for him (and me).  I felt so sorry for him.

July 4th- Had to miss the family 4th of July celebration...

July 5th

July 6th

July 7th- My nephew (7 years old) starts getting the spots.
July 8th- Take Red Shoes to the doctor...he's complaining of a sore throat.
July 9th- My nephews worst night. Has a few spots on his hands, feet and in his mouth. Notice spots on Red Shoes' hands. Complains about his throat for a few days.
July 12th- My other nephew (1 year old, from  (different family) starts running a temperature
July 13th- Starts getting spots
July 15th- Full blown spots on hands, feets and face.

This is way harder on the younger kids.  I think Swoosh got some kind of secondary infection on his face sores.  All in all It took about a week to get it all cleared up to where we could really take him into public.
