Michigan...the Breakdown

Day 1- We drove all day and ended up in Grand Haven, MI for the night. Grand Haven State Park is beautiful. Our kids would have been happy if we had just stayed here. There's a nice beach with a lighthouse and lots of volleyball nets.  Grand Haven State Park

Day 2- We drove to Empire, MI. We stayed at Indigo Bluffs RV Park & Resort. We stayed in one of their cottages.  We loved it! The employees were very nice and it was a great place to stay. It was nice to have a kitchen to cook in.  During the evening we went to Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lake Shore.  We climbed the dune and had lots of fun!

Day 3- We drove to Leland, Michigan and checked out Fish Town. This is a quaint little town that is fun to spend some time in.

After that we checked out Sutton's Bay.

Then, we kayaked the Crystal River.  We did this through the Crystal River Outfitters.  In most places this river is only a foot deep. It really is crystal clear.

Day 4- Red Shoes went swimming at our resort, and the others rented bikes.

In the evening we went to Lake Michigan Beach Park in Empire. This is a beautiful area. On one side of the street you have Lake Michigan on the others you have a small, beautiful, warm lake.

Day 5- We rented a boat from Dewitt Marine in Bellaire, MI.  They were great to work with.We spent most of the day on Torch Lake.  National Geographic called Torch Lake the 3rd most beautiful lake in the world.  It did not disappoint.

Other stuff we did:
Glen Haven Beach, Empire Bluff Trail and Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive & the Pyramid Point Trail.

Summer Days 2015

Well, the end of summer vacation is nearing for me...It's been a really good one. Probably the best since having kids.  Summer school, softball, t-ball, vacation, swimming lessons, trying to train a new puppy, lots and lots of swimming.  They've kept pretty busy and there hasn't been a lot of TV time.  I asked Happy Feet the other day if she was ready for school to start and she said she was.  It's been awesome, but I think we are nearing the time for routine.  Here's what life's been like here lately:

This little fella has been keeping me company.
He's never too far away. He can usually be found on an air conditioning vent.

He's always chewing something up.

I picked this bouquet the other day out of flowers my husband planted for me,
just because he knows I love fresh flowers.

Red Shoes loves playing in the water below our house.
He's on his knees here. It's not really that deep.

Trying to eat healthy.  The next day wasn't good at all.
Going to do a round of the 21 Day Fix. Again.
We celebrated Grandpa's 80th birthday with a fun party.

 Such a poser.
Peaches from our 2 year old peach tree.

Lots of joy riding
 So much swimming this summer.

One of those mornings...written by the not so happy, Happy Feet.

Huck Finn the Goldendoodle

We came home from vacation with a new puppy.  I had read about a place that had Goldendoodles for sale and was able to connect with the owner during vacation.  It worked out just perfectly to pick him up on our way home.  It was a total surprise for the kids.  They had NO idea.  I think they were in shock.  Huck Finn (we call him Finn) is adapting really well to his new home.  We love him.  He's pretty rowdy in the mornings, but calms down by mid-morning. The kids are a great help with entertaining him and helping him get some of his wild energy out. At first our other dog, Layla was a little jealous, but they are best buds now.
