Leona's Dilli Bread

This is a recipe for Leona's Dilli Bread. Leona is pictured above holding Red Shoes when he was about 10 months old. Leona is a very special woman to our family. She is kind of like a surrogate grandmother. She has a fierce spirit and is a wonderful cook. We've spent many holidays in her home & with her in ours.
1 package yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 c. cottage cheese
2 T. sugar
1 T instant minced onion
1 T. butter, melted
2 t. dill seed
1/2 t. salt
1 t. soda
1 egg, unbeaten
2 1/4 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Heat cottage cheese until luke warm. Combine cottage cheese, sugar, onion, butter, dill seed, salt, soda, egg and dissolved yeast. Add flour to form a stiff dough. Let rise until doubled. Punch down and divide into two loaves. Bake 40-50 minutes at 350 degrees.
